SADDLE BAGS
Made for horses, donkeys and camels from Asia Minor, Central Asia, North Africa, the Caucasian Mountains and the Western Hemisphere. Our Kurdish saddle bag is camel size; our khorjins from Iran were for donkeys. Baluch khirjin and a Juval are knotted pile with flat-woven backs; tent bags narrow and wide are made by Yomud Turkmen. From the United States are Navajo and Chimayo saddle mats and saddle throws from the Southwest. Also included (not saddle bags but hapy in this company) are MAFRASH - hand-woven in Iran and by Shahsavan girls for their dowries. Some are 5-sided used as cradles or storage bags; they can be used as benches. AND our fine womens' shawls from Morocco and Tunisia. The Mouchtiya were worn in the Middle and High Atlas mountains by Berbers and the brocaded cushions were used in Berber black tents.
