Vanishing Textiles

EXHIBITION

The exhibition ' Textiles From Vanishing Cultures' has been shown at many University galleries and community museums in the United States. It features woven textiles from cultures the world over whose traditional way of life is threatened. The textiles display flat-woven techniques and are made by weavers for their own personal use in pastoral societies around the last part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century.

The exhibition pays tribute to weavers the world over (mostly women) who weave whenever freed from other domestic tasks and who pass down their skills from generation to generation as their legacy.

"It is a very beautiful and interesting exhibit, truly multicultural." - Director, Noel Art Museum.

"The textiles really are spectacular and look great in the installation..thank you for opening up a whole new world of textiles." - Curator, Fullerton Museum Center.

TEXTILES FROM VANISHING CULTURES is now in the permanent collection of North Carolina State University at Raleigh.  It is renamed Nomads and Villagers.  It will be available for travel.
